The Russian attack on energy on November 17 caused a threat to nuclear safety
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported a reduction in electrical capacity at Ukrainian nuclear power plants due to a Russian attack that damaged the country's energy infrastructure.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi noted that this creates additional pressure on nuclear safety, the Agency said in a statement.
The Russian attack was aimed at substations, which depend on the reliable operation of the Khmelnytsky, Rivne and South Ukrainian NPPs.
The main lines from four substations were disconnected, which affects the stability of the energy supply.
Only two of the nine reactors in operation are currently operating at 100% capacity, and another six have reduced production to 40-90%.
Rafael Grossi emphasized that the stability of the power grid is key to the safety of nuclear facilities. He also emphasized…
