The Russian Federation will not give up the occupation of Pokrovsk, even at the cost of heavy losses
The Russian Federation resumed offensive operations aimed at capturing the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.
The occupiers made a turning maneuver from the south after successfully expanding their positions. Putin's army is likely to continue donating equipment and manpower to capture Pokrovsk until 2025.
This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
“The Kremlin is unlikely to give up the offensive on Pokrovsk even at the cost of serious losses, because it supports the broader Russian long-term goal of capturing the entire Donetsk region,” the report says.
The ISW noted that the invaders captured Novopustinka (southwest of Pokrovsk and west of Zhovtoy) and advanced to the southern outskirts of Shevchenko village (north of Zhovtoy).
