The scientist predicted how many Ukrainian refugees will return home after the war
The expert said that most people return in the first years after the end of the war.
The experience of wars in Europe shows that a significant part of the refugees who left Ukraine because of the war are unlikely to return home. About half of them are likely to stay abroad for permanent residence.
Oleksiy Pozniak, a researcher at the Institute of Demography and Social Research, reported this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
“We can say that about half can return, and about half will not return,” Pozniak noted.
The scientist said that it will depend on the scenario of the end of the war.
“If it's just a freeze without serious guarantees of non-continuation, that's one thing. If there really are serious guarantees, if there is a return of at least part of the territory occupied by Russia, it will be a different situation,” the expert said.
