The rebels have closed in on the Sayednaya military prison, where thousands of opponents of Bashar al-Assad's regime were tortured and executed, and where thousands more may still remain.
Pictures on social networks indicate that this prison, which is located 30 km from Damascus, is already in the sights of the rebels. Opposition news portals reported that the troops of the 127th brigade of the Syrian army, which defended the prison, were withdrawn, the BBC reports.
