Russia's much-touted hypersonic missiles, such as the Kinzhal or Zircon and the newest Oreshnik, are not nearly as good as rumors claim, and can be effectively defended against – you just need the right weapons. Tom Sharp reports for The Telegraph.
As Sharp points out, the best weapon in NATO's arsenal for intercepting fast, low-trajectory missiles is the US Navy's Standard Missile 6 (SM-6). The SM-3 has the same capabilities, but is designed specifically to intercept weapons on high trajectories outside the atmosphere.
