Previously, Rakhmonov defeated Ian Garry by decision at UFC 310.
“I thought that at the start of the fight Garry would have an advantage. But for some reason Ian slowed down and did not act. Apparently he wanted to show off his wrestling defense skills, although his standing strikes remain his best weapon. Garry had a chance to win early in the decisive round.
Garry asked me to be in his corner. But I refused – I like Shavkat, I train with him in the same gym. Shavkat also asked me for help, but I want to maintain good relations with both of them.
