The United States is developing a mechanical robot that will repair satellites in orbit
The complex will be able to operate in geosynchronous orbit approximately 35,405 km above the Earth.
The US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) has completed the development of a robotics system suitable for space flights. According to the plan, it will be able to operate and repair satellites in Earth orbit.
According to Interesting Engineering, the development resembles two huge robotic arms. This is expected to reduce losses for satellite operators and provide new capabilities beyond the current ones.
“In fact, the expected capabilities are potentially revolutionary for both national security and civilian applications,” said Bruce Denley, director of NRL.
As noted, the complex will be able to operate in geosynchronous orbit approximately 35,405 km above…
