The United States has canceled a previously announced $10 million reward for Ahmed al-Sharaa, who became one of the leaders of the uprising to overthrow Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.

The decision to cancel the reward for Sharaa was made as part of a “political decision” related to the beginning of US contacts with rebel leaders, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf said, Voice of America reports.
