The US seeks to cancel about $4.6 billion of Ukraine's loan debt – State Dept

The US State Department said that the administration of President Joe Biden has taken the first step to cancel about $4.6 billion in debt to Ukraine, which it had to repay for loans, but now the decision must be made by Congress.
This was stated by the spokesperson of the US State Department Matthew Miller, writes Ukrinform.
“If you recall, when Congress passed the supplemental appropriations bill, I think back in April, it contained a provision that allowed us to provide a certain amount of economic assistance to Ukraine. Part of that economic assistance was provided in the form of loans, and we were able under with the bill to cancel these loans at their own discretion,” explained the representative of the State Department.
