The regime of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad may not withstand the rebel offensive unless Russia provides quick and significant military support, says Neil Quilliam, a junior fellow at the British think tank Chatham House.
“It is very doubtful that the regime will be able to survive without a rapid large-scale deployment of Russian troops. As HTS (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham) and other forces advance on Damascus, the prospect of such a development is beginning to look very slim,” Neil Quilliam said in an interview CNN.
