The war in Syria – what the fall of the dictatorship could lead to – UNIAN
Regarding the situation in Syria, a certain part of commentators write: the country will now plunge into such chaos that subsequently the Assad regime will be remembered with gratitude. And Iraq is cited as an example: the fall of the Hussein regime led to deep chaos. This point of view deserves to be analyzed.
Firstly, the Assad regime committed mass murder against its own population, bombing cities, torture and extrajudicial executions of tens of thousands of people, used chemical weapons, carried out deportations, destroyed hospitals along with patients and doctors, created artificial famine and humanitarian disasters. These actions led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people and forced millions to become refugees. What worse news than this are you now expecting from Syria?
