Chandrayaan-2 was able to avoid collision with the Danuri spacecraft

India's Chandrayaan-2 orbiter had to perform an evasive maneuver to avoid a collision with South Korea's Danuri probe.

The incident happened back in September, but the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) reported it only now. According to ISRO, on September 19, the Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft changed its orbit, rising to a higher altitude to avoid crashing into Danuri. Two weeks later, on October 1, the device also changed its orbit to avoid a collision with the American probe NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO).

All three probes — Chandrayaan-2, Danuri and LRO — move in near-polar orbits around the Moon, bringing them closer together over the poles, where the risk of collision increases.
