Overall, rail services in Europe are falling short of expectations, and higher ticket prices do not necessarily mean higher quality services, analysts say.

Italian transport operator Trenitalia was recognized as the best railway company in Europe, while the worst was the international Eurostar, connecting the UK with France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.

This is evidenced by the data of the first rating of European railway operators from the Transport & Environment organization, which studies issues of environmentally friendly transport and energy.
