Newly elected US President Donald Trump has promised to significantly increase tariffs on goods from Mexico, Canada and China from the first day of his administration. This could lead to a sharp increase in costs for American businesses and consumers, writes CNN.

“On January 20th, as one of my first executive orders, I will sign all the necessary paperwork to impose a 25% tariff on all goods entering the US and its ridiculous open borders from Mexico and Canada. This tariff will remain in effect until drugs, particularly fentanyl, and all illegal aliens will not stop this invasion of our country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
