Türkiye asks the US to ease sanctions against Gazprombank – UNIAN

Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar referred to the previous exception.

Türkiye is negotiating with the US and the Russian Federation, trying to get US sanctions eased in order to pay Gazprombank to import Russian gas.

Reuters writes that last week the United States imposed new sanctions against the Russian Gazprombank. Türkiye imports almost all the gas it needs, and Russia is the main supplier, providing more than 50% of pipeline imports.

Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar cited a previous exemption granted to Ankara when Washington imposed sanctions on Iran and said Turkey needed something similar for Gazprombank to ensure…
