Ukraine imported liquefied gas from the USA for the first time,
Ukraine carried out its first import of liquefied natural gas from the United States through an LNG terminal in Greece. This step is an important strategic achievement that strengthens the country's energy security even in times of war, writes Financial Time.
The supplies were organized by the energy company DTEK, having concluded a long-term agreement with the American company Venture Global. According to the terms, DTEK’s purchases will last until the end of 2026. Both companies also have a separate 20-year LNG purchase agreement.
“Such cargo not only provides the region with a flexible and safe source of energy, but also further undermines Russia’s influence on our energy system,” said Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK.
