Ukraine needs modern weapons for F-16 fighters to effectively counter ground targets and strengthen defense capabilities.

This was announced on Ukrainian Radio by retired lieutenant general Ihor Romanenko, former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Romanenko noted that Ukrainian F-16s currently perform mainly air defense tasks.

“They can destroy cruise missiles, drones and “shahedis”. They are also capable of working against the enemy's aircraft, but the aviation means used are limited to missiles with infrared homing heads at a range of 20-40 km or radar heads at a range of 110-160 km,” he explained.
