Ukraine's unfinished defense lines help the Russians move forward quickly,
In the Dnepropetrovsk region there are still gaps between Velikaya Novosilka and Kurakhovo, as well as Kurakhovo and Pokrovsk.
Ukraine is racing to complete construction of several defense lines that could stop Russia's rapid advance, but efforts have been complicated by delays and a lack of coordination, according to Ukrainian officials and commanders.
According to the Financial Times, Russian troops have made stunningly rapid progress in the Donetsk region, with the front line in some places only 15 km from the border with the Dnepropetrovsk region. If the Russians cross this line, it would be the first breakthrough into the new Ukrainian region since 2022 and would deal a significant blow to Kyiv's war effort.
