Ukrainian polar explorers showed the first baby penguins of this season – Tsykavinka

The young will stay in the nest for about a month.

The first baby penguins of this season appeared near the Ukrainian Antarctic station “Akademik Vernadskyi”. Two chicks hatched in a nest on a rock near the geospace laboratory.

This was reported by the National Antarctic Science Center.

“The first cub is already active – it feeds, squeaks, so it's about half a day old. And the second one, apparently, hatched right before my arrival, because it is still in pieces of the shell and is hiding under an adult penguin,” said the biologist of the 29th UAE Svitozar Davydenko.
