Ukrainians were outraged by the choice of book for her book club.
The book club of the American actress Reese Witherspoon chose for December reading a book by the author, who recently came to Russia to receive the Yasnaya Polyana literary award.
On November 26, the Reese's Book Club page, which has 3 million followers on Instagram, announced a reading of the novel “City Of Night Birds” by American writer of South Korean origin Juhea Kim.
The main character of the book is a Russian prima ballerina who returns to St. Petersburg. The blurb notes that the novel “paints a vivid portrait of the Russian ballet world, where ruthless ambition, fickle politics and sublime artistry collide.”
