Umerov confirmed the first clashes with North Korean troops


Defense forces are expecting more skirmishes with North Korean troops in the coming weeks.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov confirmed on Tuesday, November 5, that the Ukrainian Armed Forces engaged North Korean soldiers for the first time since Pyongyang sent its troops to help Russia.

Umerov said this in an interview with the South Korean publication KBS.

The minister noted that currently it is not about large-scale military operations, but only about a few “small skirmishes”. Umerov did not specify in which direction of the front it happened.

“Can these skirmishes be considered the official start of North Korea's participation in the war? Yes, I think so. These were military clashes,” Umerov said.
