War in Syria – Government troops leave Aleppo – UNIAN
In past years, Aleppo has been the scene of fierce fighting, during which government forces, backed by Russia and Iran, managed to capture the city.
The Syrian military announced a “temporary withdrawal of troops” from the country’s second largest city, Aleppo. Reuters reports this.
The military said the withdrawal was part of a regrouping ahead of reinforcements arriving for a further counterattack.
The military also added that dozens of soldiers had been killed or injured in heavy fighting with rebels in Aleppo and Idlib over the past few days.
