China has supplied weapons to Russia for use against Ukraine for the first time, and the European Union is now considering sanctions. As the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung writes, citing its sources, the relevant intelligence data was provided to the EU states by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
One senior EU diplomat said the evidence was “compelling” and confirmed “the supply of lethal aid.”
“We now need to consider all possible measures,” the diplomat said. However, he added that it is important to talk directly with China. Another source noted that Europe's reaction will depend on how China reacts to this information….
