“Probably, this number of 7.7 million also included those labor migrants who went abroad and have been living there for a long time, working for a certain period of time before a full-scale invasion. And the figures given by Eurostat are data on those Ukrainians who arrived in the EU territory from February 24, 2022 and enjoy temporary protection there,” explains the discrepancies, a senior researcher at the Institute of Demography and Social Research named after M.V.
