Russia's strike on Ukraine with a medium-range ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads was the absolute minimum Putin could do to “not lose face.” This opinion was expressed by British journalist Dominic Lawson in his material for The Times.
He recalls how a few weeks ago Putin threatened the West with “overwhelming nuclear firepower” if Ukraine was allowed to fire Western-made long-range missiles at Russia. Ukraine was allowed, and has already used the corresponding missiles several times to strike targets on Russian territory.
