Weather anomalies in Kirov in 2024
The year 2024 started with frosts. In January, the Kirov region was hit by severe negative temperatures. On January 3, the air temperature was recorded at -30 degrees. In the middle of the month there was a snowstorm and strong winds. By the end of the month it warmed up to -4 degrees.
In the first ten days of February, an anticyclone came to the region, which, together with dry weather, brought frosts down to -23 degrees. By the end of the month it warmed up again to -3 degrees.
On April 2, the first thunderstorm of the year was recorded in the north-west of the Kirov region. The atmospheric phenomenon was the earliest since 2014. On April 5, ice drift began on the rivers Filippovka, Bystritsa, Pizhma, Yaran, Nemda, Voya and Bolshaya Kokshaga. The flood arrived in the region seven days earlier than usual.
