Saint Amphilochius Iconium lived in the 4th century and was the bishop of the city of Iconium in Asia Minor (modern Turkey). He was a close friend and associate of St. Basil the Great and Gregory the Theologian. Amphilochius was known for his great wisdom and zeal in preaching the Christian faith. He participated in many church councils and actively fought against heresies, especially Arianism. His sermons and letters left a significant mark on the theological thought of that time.
