What are the benefits of pistachios – scientists have proven the effect of nuts on vision – UNIAN
Pistachios are the only nuts that contain a lot of lutein, which is beneficial for the eyes.
Eating pistachios daily may prevent age-related vision problems by boosting important protective compounds in the retina. Researchers from Tufts University believe there, writes StudyFinds.
They found that adults who ate just two ounces (1 ounce is about 28.35 grams) of pistachios daily for 12 weeks had significantly improved eye health compared to those who ate their usual diet. The study measured a special protective macular pigment in the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye that is critical for vision.
This macular pigment acts as an internal sunglass for the eyes….
