Allergy. This is a rare occurrence, but still possible. An allergic reaction to chia seeds may cause dizziness, eczema and itchy lesions on the hands, and swelling of the face.
Excess fiber. The standard serving size of chia seeds is 28.85 grams, which is equivalent to about 2.5 tablespoons. If you eat a third of a cup in one sitting, you'll get about 22 grams of fiber, or about 60-80% of your daily value.
