Sleep expert Adil Ul-Haq warns about this.
According to the expert, an extra five minutes in bed prevents the body from entering the REM sleep phase.
This confuses your brain because it thinks it is entering a different sleep cycle. This disorder can cause an increase in heart rate and blood pressure.
Instead of restorative sleep, you get fragmented sleep. Waking up during this phase of sleep leads to lethargy, irritability and fatigue.
Instead of hitting the snooze button, get up immediately when your alarm goes off. You will feel much better.
