what it looked like — Science and IT
Facial features were reproduced on the basis of well-preserved bone structure.
A digital artist has recreated the likeness of Queen Tia, Tutankhamun's grandmother, using her 3,400-year-old mummified remains.
This was reported by the Daily Mail.
Thanks to modern technologies, facial features were superimposed on her well-preserved bone structure: eyes, nose, mouth, as well as hair, eyebrows, eyelashes and even freckles, which brought the image to life.
Queen Tia was the Great Royal Consort of Pharaoh Amenhotep III and the mother of Amenhotep IV, known as Akhenaten. Her son, Akhenaten, became the father of Tutankhamun.
Tia's mummy was discovered in 1898 in the tomb of Amenhotep II in the Valley of the Kings, but its identification was only confirmed in 2010 thanks to DNA analysis. Queen Tia passed away between the ages of 40 and 60.
