Friedrich Merz, the German chancellor candidate from the largest opposition CDU/CSU bloc, believes that today there is still a long way to a ceasefire in Ukraine.
His statement was quoted by the German publication Die Zeit.
Mertz spoke about this, reflecting on possible security guarantees for Ukraine to ensure a possible ceasefire in the war with Russia.
“I can't imagine anything happening in this direction [надання гарантій безпеки] today, because we are very far from such a ceasefire. This is all an issue that needs to be clarified in the next few weeks, maybe months,” he said.
