Google Pixel 6, Pixel 7 and Fold smartphones will receive major system updates and security patches for five years instead of three.
Google, when it released the Pixel 6, Pixel 7 and Pixel Fold series smartphones, promised three years of major system updates and five years of security patches for them. Now the manufacturer has extended the support period by adding two additional years.
Pixel 6/6 Pro, 6a, 7/7 Pro, 7a and Fold are promised five years of full OS updates. This means that Pixel 6 models, which are considered legacy devices by 2024 standards, will still be relevant even after Android 17 is released.
As for the Pixel 7 series and the first Pixel Fold, they will be updated until 2028, when Android 18 is released. Expanded support will include Pixel Feature Drops.
