Ethnographer Tetyana Poshivaylo believes that prohibitions and folk omens for pregnant women go back to pre-Christian times, when people had difficulty understanding and explaining the nature of certain phenomena. And the experience of previous generations was also passed on. Practically all warnings were intended to “do no harm”, because they believed that a woman in labor has a special connection with God, because “she received a soul from heaven”.
