However, according to lawyer Maxim Ivanov, in Russia there is no legal basis for New Year payments to pensioners. Despite the fact that State Duma deputies have been trying to introduce a thirteenth pension for several years, the corresponding bill has not yet been adopted.

However, some retirees may receive additional funds before the New Year. This applies to former employees of large enterprises who were recognized as deserving. Before the New Year, companies often give bonuses to their honorary employees, regardless of their age.
