World War III – historian named three scenarios
Ukrainian resistance makes the rest of the world safer, says Timothy Snyder.
American historian, Yale University professor Timothy Snyder named three scenarios for the Third World War:
- escalation of conventional war in Europe;
- escalation of conventional war in the Pacific region;
- proliferation of nuclear weapons.
“By resisting Russia, the Ukrainians are making all scenarios of such a catastrophe less likely… There is no point blaming them for the Russian invasion or preventing them from doing their job. This is no longer fear, but self-destructive panic. Hysteria makes World War III more likely,” Snyder wrote in his article.
