World War – NATO is preparing for possible aggression – UNIAN
He urges leaders to continue strengthening defenses.
There is no immediate military threat to NATO members now, but the Alliance is not prepared for what will happen in four to five years.
This statement was made by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Mark Rutte, at the Concert Noble in Brussels. He recalled that NATO has already increased defense spending and continues to strengthen its military capabilities:
“With all this, our deterrence is good – for now. But I am worried about tomorrow. We are not prepared for what will happen in four or five years. The danger is moving towards us at full speed. We must not look the other way. We must face face to face: What happens in Ukraine can happen here too.”
Rutte called for a transition to wartime thinking, otherwise the member countries of the Alliance…
