German Chancellor Olaf Scholz urged the head of the CDU opposition party, Friedrich Merz, to be careful in his statements about the supply of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine and not to “play Russian roulette” with Germany's security.
He announced this at the party conference in Berlin, Tagesschau reports.
Mertz, according to Scholz, is trying to give the nuclear power of Russia an ultimatum.
“I can only say: be careful! You can't play Russian roulette with Germany's security,” the chancellor said.
He emphasized that “when it comes to issues of war and peace, a cool head is necessary.” The chancellor assured the citizens of Germany that he remains “firm and balanced”.
