Oleksandr Zahozhiy unexpectedly lost to Kosovar Labinot Jojai.
Ukrainian Oleksandr Zahozhiy sensationally lost the title of the champion of Europe according to the version of the EBU (European Boxing Union) in super heavy weight, having been defeated by the representative of Kosovo Labinot Jojaya.
The match took place on November 23 in the German city of Heidelberg. The 31-year-old native of Zaporozhye lost to his peer by a unanimous decision of the judges – 116-110, 115-111, 116-110 in favor of the Kosovar.
Our compatriot started the fight well and already in the second round knocked down his opponent. However, the Kosovar got up and was able to continue the fight.
By the middle of the fight, Jojai seized the initiative and managed to create huge problems for the Ukrainian. Already in the tenth round, Labinot sent Zahozhy to a knockdown and only a gong saved Oleksandr from an early defeat.
