The British Boxing Council (BBBofC) wants a British middleweight champion (72.6kg). Denzel Bentley (21-3-1, 17 KOs) began negotiations on a mandatory defense with the challenger Kieron Conway (22-3-1, 6 KOs), Sports.kz reports with reference to Vringe.com.
The parties have until January 8 to reach an amicable agreement. Otherwise, the fate of the fight will be decided at the promotional auction.
Bentley will presumably give up the belt, since last weekend in a fight with compatriot Brad Pauls he won not only the British champion belt (+ British Commonwealth and European champion according to the EBU), but also the status of a mandatory challenger for the WBO world title.
